Abstract

The research aimed to synthesize the understanding of women's perceptions in leadership positions
through a literature review, through which, it evidenced the concept of leadership, in addition to the role of women
as leaders from the societal patriarchy origins to leadership positions today, covering its importance, applied
stereotypes and the need for self-affirmation. Challenges faced, above all, with an understanding of the applicability
of female confrontation strategies and their multitasking, were also raised, as well as issues related to maternity
leave. To this end, a qualitative study was carried out, in order to justify the demands brought on the subject. It was
used as a source, the main authors that cover gender issues, such as Toledo, Andrade, Sina, among others. It was
evidenced: a) historical recovery of how women joined the labor market; b) stereotypes and difficulties faced in
leadership positions c) comparison of the needs imposed on men and women. In relation to female leadership, it
was clearly perceived the need to strengthen gender equity to ensure women's position in their multitasking, under
management practice, with the aim of choosing leaders based on the individual's capacity, commitment and
meritocracy
