This study aimed to discuss the growth of obesity and its classification as a multifactorial worldwide
epidemic, which presents itself in new disease patterns, in which food trade can contribute as determining factors
in this process of access, availability, and food quality. The objective of the research was to characterize the food
environment of the territories based on the presence of obesogenic environmental factors in the coverage
communities of the Extended Family Health and Primary Care Centers (Nasf-AB) in Recife, Pernambuco. This is
a case study with qualitative and quantitative approaches, analytical and descriptive, to be developed in communities
covered by Nasf-AB teams distributed among health districts of the city, where data were collected through the city
Food Environment Audit tool, based on the new (AUDIT - NOVA). Thus, we sought to deepen the knowledge
about the environment in which communities find themselves, from the perspective of developing strategies to
approach health teams on the food and nutritional problems of their populations.
